Supervised Counsellor, BA Hons

Alison grew up in the UK and has lived and worked in London, Sydney and Singapore. After moving to Singapore 25 years ago on a one-year contract, she fell in love with the diverse cultures of this amazing city and South East Asia, deciding to make Singapore her permanent home.

She has run and owned several companies in the corporate training, business events management and property investment fields and has extensive experience in building cross-cultural teams, coaching, training, performance development and management, workplace conflict management and in career counselling.

Alison has worked closely with C-suite executives and senior government officials across Asia in multiple industry sectors. Her most rewarding work however came from building excellence in her teams and mentoring young managers to be successful in their roles, first and foremost as effective people managers while ensuring business goals were achieved.

Alison is the mother of a teenage daughter, who she supports in her ambition to pursue excellence in sport, in addition to her academic goals. It is in large part thanks to this personal experience that Alison has a strong interest in working with adolescents and their families to improve communication, supporting families through this often challenging period of development.

In line with this interest, Alison has worked as a volunteer helping single mothers in Singapore, offering broad support, modelling parenting skills and providing guidance as they navigated caring for their children while managing other challenges in their lives. This experience played an important part in Alison’s decision to change career paths and train to become a counsellor.

Alison is currently studying for both a Masters in Counselling from Monash University and a Graduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology through the College of Allied Educators in Singapore. She is delighted to be able to offer counselling to clients through Elephant, supervised by Elephant’s founder Adriana Giotta, the experienced team at Elephant, and by her clinical supervisor in Singapore.

Alison is passionate about working with clients to help them move forward in whichever areas of life they may need support and is committed to providing the highest level of ethical service in line with Elephant’s core values.
